This saturday we had the Relay for Life fair at the Lane in Second Life. Relay for Life is an international event to raise money for cancer research. Every year our team Walking Tall for a Cure gets together for this cause and it is one of the best things Second Life has to offer. As always, Derek arranged a wide selection of live music for us, and all team members did an effort to sell creations and do fun things for donations. We are proud to say that yesterday our total donations were up to 725,000 L$, which is about 2,900$ or 2,150 euros! Thanks everyone for this amazing result. We have about a month left to achieve our set goal of 1 million L$, and with a little luck we just might make it! Del had set up three computers here at the dining table so Duda, Firery and me were all able to log in for the event. It was fun to be sitting next to each other and see each other inworld too. The network held up pretty well and Del made us awesome snacks. We were living the good life here!
Afgelopen zaterdag was het Relay for Life markt op onze locatie in Second Life. Relay for Life is een internationaal initiatief om geld in te zamelen voor onderzoek naar kanker. Behalve evenementen in 21 landen wereldwijd zijn er ook initiatieven in Second Life. Ons team Walking Tall for a Cure (Rug Recht voor een Geneeswijze) doet elk jaar mee en samen werken voor een goed doel is een van de beste dingen die Second Life te bieden heeft. Derek had zoals altijd een fantastische groep live muzikanten geregeld en all teamleden hebben weer hun best gedaan om creaties te verkopen of andere leuke dingen te doen om geld in te zamelen. Met trots kunnen we zeggen dat we gisteren tot 725.000L$ n donaties hebben opgehaald, wat omgerekend zo'n 2.150 euro is. Del had drie computers klaargezet op de eettafel zodat Duda, Firery en ik tegelijk konden inloggen. Het was erg grappig om samen naast elkaar ingelogd te zijn, een nieuwe ervaring. Ondertussen kwam Del steeds langs met hapjes. Heerlijk!
